Introduction

MyGolfman is a browser-based golf scorecard and caddie app available at mygolfman.com. Open it on any phone or tablet — no app store required. It calculates your Stableford score hole by hole, shows your distance to the pin via a live GPS satellite map, displays current course weather, and builds up a full analytics picture of your game over time.

The app has two tiers:

1. Getting Started

Opening the App

Open your phone's browser and go to mygolfman.com, then tap Open App →. The app loads at mygolfman.com/app/.

Install to Home Screen for the best experience

On iPhone/iPad: tap the Share button in Safari, then Add to Home Screen.
On Android: tap the three-dot menu in Chrome, then Add to Home Screen or Install App.
MyGolfman will appear as a native app icon and open without browser chrome. It also works offline once installed.

Creating an Account

An account is optional for free scoring, but required for cloud sync and Pro features. To sign up:

1
Tap the account icon (👤) in the header
This opens the sign-in panel. If you don't have an account yet, tap Create account.
2
Enter your name, email, and a password
Use any email address. Your name will appear on round scorecards.
3
Check your inbox for a confirmation email
Click the link in the email to verify your address. After verification, sign in with your email and password.

Signing In

Tap the account icon in the header → enter your email and password → tap Sign In. A green pulsing dot appears in the header while syncing. Your rounds and Pro status load automatically.

What You See First

The home screen automatically requests your GPS location and searches for golf courses nearby. Within a few seconds, a list of courses sorted by distance appears below.

If you have a round in progress from a previous session, a green card appears at the top offering to resume where you left off.

2. Finding a Course

1
Allow location access
When prompted, tap Allow to share your GPS location. A green ✅ confirmation appears. The app immediately shows courses sorted by how close they are to you.
2
Or search by place name
Type any town, region, or country in the "Search by Place" box — for example Fife, Scotland or Murcia, Spain — then tap Go.
3
Filter the course list
Use the filter box to narrow a long list by typing part of a course name or country.
4
Tap your course
A confirmation panel appears at the bottom showing the course name and any available details. Tap Start Round → to begin.
OpenStreetMap courses

Courses marked with a blue OpenStreetMap badge came from live map data. They use standard default par and stroke index values — you can correct these using the Edit Hole Data screen before starting, or submit a correction to improve the data for everyone.

Edit Par & Stroke Index (Optional)

Before starting, tap ✏️ Edit Par / Stroke Index to adjust any hole's par or stroke index. All 18 holes are listed with editable fields. Tap Save & Start Round → when done — your edits are remembered permanently for this course on this device.

3. Round Setup

Live Course Weather Pro

When you start a round, MyGolfman automatically fetches current weather for the course location — no setup needed. You'll see temperature, wind speed and direction, and rain probability. This feature is available to Pro subscribers.

Slope Rating

Enter the course slope rating (usually printed on the scorecard — typically between 100 and 150). This adjusts your playing handicap using the World Handicap System formula:

Playing Handicap = round( Handicap × Slope ÷ 113 )

Leave slope blank to use your exact handicap directly.

Adding Players

By default there is one player — you. Pro subscribers can tap + Add Player to add up to 3 more (4 players maximum). Each player gets their own handicap and Stableford score.

Enter names and handicaps by tapping out of the field

Values save when you leave a field (tap elsewhere or move to the next field), not while you are typing. This prevents the app from resetting your entry mid-keystroke.

Round Type

Full 18Holes 1–18Full handicap across all 18 SI values
Front 9Holes 1–9Handicap re-ranked across 9 holes by relative difficulty
Back 9Holes 10–18Handicap re-ranked across 9 holes by relative difficulty

You can switch round type at any point — all entered scores are preserved.

4. Entering Scores

How to Enter Shots

  1. Tap the shots field on any hole card — your phone's number keypad appears
  2. Type the number of shots you took on that hole
  3. Your Stableford score appears immediately as a colour-coded badge beneath the field
  4. Move to the next hole and repeat

Entering a Zero

If you picked up your ball (didn't complete the hole), enter 0 in the shots field. The app records 0 Stableford points — it will never calculate a score from zero shots.

The Map Button Pro

Each hole card has a small 🗺️ map button in the top corner. Pro subscribers can tap it to open the GPS satellite view for that hole (see Section 5).

Auto-Save

Your scores save automatically about half a second after you stop typing. If you close the app or lose your connection, you can pick up exactly where you left off when you return.

5. GPS Satellite Map Pro

Tap the 🗺️ button on any hole card to open a full-screen satellite map with live GPS tracking and yardage arcs. This feature requires a Pro subscription.

Tips for best accuracy

Stand in open sky away from trees and buildings. GPS typically settles within 5–10 metres after 10–15 seconds. The distance shown is straight-line — account for doglegs, elevation, and hazards yourself.

6. Live Course Weather Pro

When you start or resume a round, MyGolfman automatically fetches current weather for the course location using the Open-Meteo weather service. No setup or API keys required — it just works.

What's Shown

FieldDescription
Condition iconWeather emoji (☀️ ⛅ 🌧️ ❄️ etc.) matching current sky conditions
TemperatureCurrent temperature in °C
WindSpeed (mph) and compass direction
Rain probabilityChance of precipitation in the current hour (%)
Weather requires an internet connection

Weather is fetched live each time you start a round. It is not cached for offline use. If you're playing without signal, the weather card will show a fetch error — this does not affect scoring.

7. Viewing Results

When you've entered scores for all holes, tap Calculate Stableford → at the bottom of the scoring screen.

Leaderboard

Each player gets a coloured card showing their total Stableford points. The winner (highest total) gets the darkest green card and a 🏆 prefix.

Detailed Scorecard

If playing with multiple players, tap any player's name tab to switch to their detailed scorecard.

Your round is automatically saved to history when you reach this screen. If you're signed in, it also syncs to the cloud immediately.

8. Round History & Statistics

Tap 📋 Round History on the home screen or from the Results screen to open the analytics centre.

Free tier: last 5 rounds

Free accounts see their most recent 5 rounds. The Course Stats and By Hole analytics tabs require a Pro subscription. Upgrade to unlock your full history and all charts.

🔴 Red< 0.8 ptsTrouble hole — discuss with your pro

Tap any hole button to see a line chart of your points on that hole across every round, plus a data table showing date, shots, strokes given, and points — newest first.

9. Cloud Sync Pro

When you're signed in as a Pro subscriber, your rounds automatically sync to the cloud after each round. A green pulsing dot in the header shows that sync is active.

How Sync Works

Offline rounds sync when you reconnect

Any round you score without signal is saved locally and will upload the next time you open the app with a connection while signed in.

10. Submitting Course Corrections

If a course has wrong par values or stroke index numbers, you can submit a correction to help improve the data for all users.

1
Sign in to your account
Course corrections require a free account. You don't need Pro.
2
Select the course and tap "Submit Correction"
The correction panel appears below the course details. It shows all 18 holes with par and SI fields pre-filled with the current values.
3
Edit the incorrect holes and add a note
Change only the holes that are wrong. The notes field is optional — use it to mention your source (e.g. "confirmed from official club scorecard").
4
Tap Submit
Your correction is saved for review. Once approved, it will be added to the built-in course data. Thank you for helping!

11. Managing Your History

ActionHow to do it
Delete one roundRounds tab → tap 🗑️ next to any round → confirm
Delete all historyTap 🗑️ Clear All in the header card → confirm
Deletion is permanent

Deleting a round removes it from both your device and the cloud (if you're signed in as Pro). There is no undo.

12. Stableford Quick Reference

What you scoreNet result vs parPoints
Picked up (enter 0)0
Double bogey net+20
Bogey net+11
Par netLevel2
Birdie net−13
Eagle net−24
Albatross net−35
Example — how handicap strokes work

You're 20 HCP, slope 125. Playing handicap = round(20 × 125 ÷ 113) = 22. On a par 4 with SI 3: you receive floor(22 ÷ 18) + (3 ≤ 22%18 ? 1 : 0) = 1 + 1 = 2 strokes. You take 6 shots. Gross = +2, but net = +2 − 2 strokes = level par = 2 Stableford points.

13. Tips & Tricks

Keep your phone screen on

Go to your phone's display settings and increase the screen timeout (or set it to "Never") while on the course. Nothing interrupts a flow quite like re-authenticating mid-round.

Add an unlisted course

  1. Search for the nearest town using Place Search
  2. The course should appear from OpenStreetMap data
  3. Tap it and select Edit Par / Stroke Index to enter the correct hole data
  4. Your edits are saved permanently for that course on your device
  5. Optionally, submit a course correction so others benefit too

Share the app with playing partners

Just tell them to open mygolfman.com on their phone. They can use it immediately for free, or create their own account.

Playing without internet

Install to your home screen at least once with a connection — the service worker caches everything. After that, GPS distances and all built-in courses work offline. Weather, cloud sync, and course search require a connection.

Correct a mistake after calculating

From the Results screen, tap ← Edit Scores to return to the scoring grid. All your values are still there. Correct any entry and tap Calculate Stableford → again — the history entry updates with the corrected round.

14. Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
Location permission deniedOpen your phone's browser settings, allow location for mygolfman.com, then tap Retry Location. Or use Place Search instead.
No courses found near meUse Place Search with a town or region name nearby the course.
Course has wrong par or SITap ✏️ Edit Par / Stroke Index from the Selected Course panel before starting. Consider submitting a course correction too.
Score badge not showing on a holeMake sure you've entered a handicap for that player. Without a handicap, no Stableford score can be calculated.
GPS map shows wrong distanceStand in open sky for 10–15 seconds. If the green pin appears in the wrong place, OpenStreetMap may not have green data for this course — the distance will show to the course centre instead.
GPS map is locked (shows 🔒)GPS map requires a Pro subscription. Tap the card to see upgrade options.
Weather not loadingWeather requires an internet connection. Check your signal. If you're online and it still fails, tap anywhere outside the weather card to dismiss and continue scoring.
Pro features not available after signing inPro is only active when your account has been upgraded. Tap Get Pro in the header to subscribe. If you've already subscribed and features aren't showing, sign out and sign back in.
Round not in history after finishingHistory saves when you reach the Results screen by tapping Calculate Stableford →. If you closed the app before that, the round was not yet saved.
App not loading offlineOpen the app once with a network connection so the service worker can cache it. After that it works offline.
Player name reverts to "Player 2"Type the name and then tap a different field (or tap elsewhere on screen) to confirm. Names save on blur, not on keypress.
Switched round type and lost scoresScores are always preserved when switching between Full 18, Front 9, and Back 9. If scores appear missing, they may be on holes outside the current active range — switch back to see them.
Confirmation email never arrivedCheck your spam folder. If it's not there, go to the sign-in screen and use the "Resend confirmation" option, or contact support at hello@mygolfman.com.
