Sign in (or create a free account) and tap Get Pro in the app header. Cancel anytime. Founding-member offer: first 100 members get Pro free for life — see mygolfman.com for current count.

📲 1. Install on your phone

MyGolfman is a Progressive Web App. There's no app store, no .apk, and no 100 MB download. You add it to your home screen once and it behaves like any other app — including offline scoring on the back nine when signal cuts out.

iPhone (iPad)

  1. Open Safari and go to mygolfman.com/app. (Other iOS browsers cannot install web apps.)
  2. Tap the Share button — the square with an upward arrow at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll down in the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add. The ⛳ icon appears on your home screen.

Android

  1. Open Chrome or Samsung Internet and go to mygolfman.com/app.
  2. An Install MyGolfman banner usually appears at the top — tap it. If not, open the menu () and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
  3. Confirm Install. The ⛳ icon lands on your home screen.

Desktop

Open Chrome, Edge, or Brave and go to mygolfman.com/app. Look for the install icon in the address bar (a small monitor with a down arrow), or use the menu's Install MyGolfman. Safari on macOS doesn't support PWA install.

Why install?

Installed mode runs full-screen with no browser chrome, works offline, and shows in your dock / Start menu like any native app.

🔐 2. Your account

You can score rounds without signing up. Free Stableford scoring works straight from the home screen. But if you want history that survives wiping your phone, multiplayer rounds, weather, or any of the other Pro features — you'll want an account.

Creating an account

  1. Open the app and tap the account icon in the header.
  2. Enter your email and a strong password, or sign in with Google.
  3. Confirm your email if prompted.

Signing in on a new device

Use the same email and password. Your rounds appear from the cloud automatically once you sign in.

Changing your password

Open the account panel and tap 🔑 Change Password. Enter your current password and a new one — at least 8 characters. If you forgot your password, use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen and check your email.

Privacy: we never sell your data, run no third-party analytics, and send no tracking pixels. Round data is stored on Supabase in Europe.

🔍 3. Find your course

The first screen after opening the app is the course picker. Three ways to find your course, in order of speed:

  1. Use my location — tap the GPS icon and the app shows nearby courses sorted by distance, pulled from OpenStreetMap.
  2. Search any place — type a course or town name. Useful when you're not on-site yet.
  3. Pick from offline list — 15+ Murcia/Spain courses ship inside the app and work with no signal.

Tap a course to select it. The hole table shows par and stroke index for all 18 holes. If anything looks wrong, see section 14: Course corrections.

⚙️ 4. Set up the round

Your handicap

Enter your course handicap (whole number, 0–54). Optionally enter the slope rating for that course (default 113) and the app converts to a playing handicap automatically. Strokes are allocated per hole using the stroke index — no maths required from you.

Round type

Choose 18 holes, Front 9, or Back 9. The app only shows the holes you'll play.

Scoring format Pro for Match Play / Skins

Adding players Pro

You're Player 1. Tap + Add Player for up to three more guests. Each guest needs their own name and handicap.

⚡ Find Pro players by name Pro

Type the start of any other Pro member's name in the guest player slot — the app searches as you type and shows up to 10 matches with their handicap pre-filled. Tap a result and:

Recent picks are cached locally for 8 players, so your regular partners appear instantly when you tap into the input — no typing needed.

Why this matters: after the round, you can share each player's scorecard to their MyGolfman history with one tap. See section 11: Share scorecards.

✏️ 5. Enter scores

Each hole shows the par, stroke index, and a number input for shots. As soon as you type your shot count, your Stableford points appear immediately to the right.

Score badge colours

Picking up

If you pick up the ball, leave the score blank or enter 0. The app records 0 points for that hole. Don't try to estimate.

Auto-save

Every shot you enter is saved instantly to local storage. Lock your phone, change apps, lose signal — when you come back, your card is exactly as you left it. If you're signed in, the round also syncs to the cloud at the end.

Live score bar

The bar at the top of the scoring screen shows your running total: points, holes played, and points-per-hole. Useful when you're trying to clear a target.

🗺️ 6. GPS satellite map Pro

Tap the 🗺️ button on any hole to open a live satellite view. The map is centred on the green using OpenStreetMap data plus community-contributed pins (more on that in section 13).

What you see

Map buttons

Yards or metres: tap the unit toggle in the map header to switch.

🌤️ 7. Live course weather Pro

The weather card on the round-setup screen pulls live conditions for your course's coordinates from Open-Meteo:

It refreshes when the round-setup screen opens. No paid weather API, no ads.

🏆 8. View results

When the last hole is scored, tap Calculate Stableford (or finish the equivalent for Match Play / Skins) and the results screen renders.

Per-player totals

Every player gets a card with their name (first name only — keeps the layout tight on phones), the format-specific score, and — for guest players — a 📤 transfer button to send the round to their MyGolfman history.

Scorecard tabs

For multiplayer rounds, switch between players using the tabs above the scorecard. Each tab shows the full hole-by-hole breakdown for that player.

Result formats

📊 9. History & analytics

The history screen has four tabs at the top: Rounds, Course Stats, By Hole, Handicap. Free users get the Rounds tab capped at 5 rounds; Pro unlocks the rest with unlimited history.

Rounds tab

Newest first. Each entry expands to show hole-by-hole detail. Per-round controls:

Course Stats tab Pro

Pick a course and see your form there: average points per round, best round, worst round, recent direction. The points-per-round chart highlights long streaks.

By Hole tab Pro

Per-course heat map. Every hole ranked by your average return. Find your secret weapons — and the holes quietly bleeding points every round.

Handicap tab Pro

Live trend chart of every handicap you've entered. Shows current vs best-ever and the delta. Two rounds minimum to plot.

Format-aware: all charts respect the format. Stableford trends, Match Play wins, and Skins collected each track separately so the chart never lies.

🧳 10. Trips Pro

New. Group multiple rounds into a named trip — society day, weekender, charity tournament — and share one public link. Anyone with the link can join, post their own rounds, and watch the leaderboard update. The trip's public page can also be viewed without an account.

Creating a trip

You don't have to plan trips in advance. Score your rounds normally, then:

  1. Open History → Rounds.
  2. Tap the 🧳 button on any round.
  3. Either pick an existing trip or type a new name and tap + Create new trip.

The round joins the trip. Repeat for any other rounds you want included. As the creator you become the trip organiser.

Inviting other players

From the trip detail screen, tap 📤 Share and send the link via WhatsApp, iMessage, or email. When a recipient opens the link they'll see the public leaderboard plus a yellow ⛳ Join this trip button.

  1. They tap Join this trip and sign in to MyGolfman (free account, no card).
  2. They're added to the leaderboard immediately.
  3. Their existing rounds are not auto-added — they tag rounds into the trip the same way you do (the 🧳 button on a round).
Open join. Anyone with the share link can join. Treat the link like a society WhatsApp invite — share it with the people you want on the leaderboard.

The Trip Detail screen

From the Rounds tab, your trips (both ones you organise and ones you've joined) appear at the top in green cards. Joined trips show a small JOINED chip. Tap one and you'll see:

Sharing a trip

Tap 📤 Share. The native share sheet opens (or the link is copied to your clipboard). The link looks like https://mygolfman.com/trip/zZrjxnVHX8.

The recipient gets a polished unfurl preview with the trip name, date range, course count, and player count. Opening the link shows the full leaderboard.

What's public: trip name, dates, courses played, every member's display name, every round's score, the leaderboard, and a signature stat (e.g. "Best round: 42 pts by Stephen at Quinta"). No emails or other PII.

Leaving a trip

Members (anyone who joined via a link) can tap 🚪 Leave trip on the trip detail screen. Their rounds are unassigned from the trip but stay safely in their personal history.

Deleting a trip

Only the organiser can delete a trip. Open the trip and tap 🗑 Delete trip. The trip is removed for everyone and the public link 404s within ~30 seconds. Nobody's rounds are deleted — only the grouping is removed.

📤 11. Share scorecards Pro

After a multiplayer round, you can send each guest's scorecard to their own MyGolfman history. They accept it once and it's theirs — full hole-by-hole detail.

From the results screen

  1. Tap the 📤 Transfer round button on any guest player's card.
  2. If the player was added via Pro player search, they're already pre-filled — just tap Send Round.
  3. If not, search for them by name in the modal, or fall back to entering their email under Can't find them?.

From history

Tap the 📤 button next to any past round in the Rounds tab to send a copy to another player. Same flow.

What the recipient sees

The transferred round arrives in their 📥 Transfer Inbox on the home screen as a pending entry. They tap Accept to add it to their history, or Reject to discard. Until they accept, nothing changes in their history.

Privacy

When you pick a player from search, you only ever see their masked email hint. Their real address is never exposed in the browser — the lookup happens server-side using their user ID. Daily limit: 3 transfers per sender.

☁️ 12. Cloud sync Pro

Sign in once and every round you score is synced to the cloud. Sign in on another device and the rounds appear there too.

How it works

Manual sync

Open the account panel and tap Sync if you suspect the lists are out of step. Useful right after a flaky-signal round.

📍 13. Community green pins Pro

OpenStreetMap is great for course outlines, but green positions vary in quality. Pro users can pin the actual centre of any green as they play, and the pin gets reviewed by an admin and shipped to every other golfer who plays that course next.

How to contribute a pin

  1. Walk onto a green.
  2. Tap the 🗺️ map button on that hole.
  3. Tap Submit Pin.
  4. The app captures your current GPS position as the pin.

Your pin enters a moderation queue. When enough pins are submitted for the same hole within a small radius, they're clustered automatically and the cluster is offered to the admin for approval.

What happens after approval

Once approved, the pin replaces whatever the app was using for that green's centre. Yardage gets more accurate for everyone — including you, next round.

Banner: when you're playing a hole that uses a community-verified pin, you'll see a "✓ Verified Green Position" banner on the map.

📝 14. Course corrections

If the par or stroke index for any hole is wrong on your course, you can submit a correction:

  1. On the hole table during round setup, tap Edit Par & SI.
  2. Fix any wrong values.
  3. Tap Submit correction.

An admin reviews the change. Once approved, every golfer who plays that course gets the corrected data.

📋 15. Stableford quick reference

Stableford points relative to your net score on the hole (gross strokes minus handicap strokes for that hole, allocated by stroke index):

Net resultPoints
Net albatross or better5+ (one extra per stroke)
Net eagle4
Net birdie3
Net par2
Net bogey1
Net double bogey or worse0

Handicap strokes per hole

If your playing handicap is H and a hole's stroke index is SI:

Example: handicap 18 plays SI 1–18 = 1 stroke on every hole, total 18 shots. Handicap 24 plays SI 1–6 with 2 strokes each, SI 7–18 with 1 stroke each.

🔧 16. Tips & troubleshooting

Tips

Keep your phone screen on while scoring

iOS Safari respects the screen-timeout setting. Set Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock to 5 minutes or Never for the round. Set it back after.

Add an unlisted course quickly

Search the nearest large town in the course-search box. The app falls back to OpenStreetMap and finds courses by name. If yours still isn't there, scoring works perfectly without a course — just enter pars and stroke indexes manually.

Save battery

The GPS map is the heaviest feature. Close it between holes and the app uses very little power.

Troubleshooting

🏌 17. Shot tracker Pro

What it is: a frictionless way to log just enough per-hole detail that the app can compute your driver accuracy, greens-in-regulation, putts trend, and sand-save rate — without slowing down scoring.

How it works

On each hole, two extra pills appear next to the shot input:

Both pills are optional — leave them empty and the round still works exactly as before. Engage on a hole-by-hole basis. The app computes coverage automatically and is honest about what's logged.

What's derived for you

Fairway in regulationTee club = Driver AND reached the green in (par − 1) shots or fewer.
Green in regulationReached the green in (par − 2) shots — derived from shots − putts.
Sand saveMissed GIR by 1 AND took only 1 putt to convert. Approximation; useful trend.
Coverage% of holes you logged at least one stat on. Shown above every chart so numbers stay honest.

Where to view your stats

History → Shots tab (Pro). You'll see headline tiles for driver accuracy, GIR, average putts/round, and sand-save %. Below that: GIR breakdown by par-3/4/5, and a putts-per-round trend chart.

It only counts holes you logged. If you logged putts on 9 of 18 holes, your "average putts" is computed from those 9 and projected to 18 — but the coverage banner tells you so.

Privacy & storage

Shot stats sync to the cloud as part of each round (encrypted at rest, owner-only access). They never appear on the public trip share page.
